Lee Rubenstein Originals
Background:
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Lee Rubenstein has been involved in the arts in Baltimore, Boulder, Colorado and San Francisco and New York since 1969 and has explored many media since that time, starting with photography and theater, and through graphic design, fiber construction and ceramics, and into the exploration of woodworking. His current focus is furniture making, sometimes combining the woodworking with hand made porcelain tiles from his days in ceramics.His work has been shown regularly at Craft Fairs and trade shows on the East Coast, and has been seen in shops and galleries throughout the US and Canada. He is currently working in a barn/studio which he shares with his wife, in the Hudson Valley.

Artist Statement:
"Always striving to banish the ordinary from life, I seek to find novel ways to perform everyday tasks. I hope that my work provides such opportunities for others. "

Technique:
The clay is hand marbled colored porcelain. The colors are added to the raw clay, mixed according to taste, rolled into slabs, cut into shape, glazed and fired to cone 8 for a durable finish. The woodworks are created using standard joinery techniques and sometimed carved for texture.
