Kariann's Tidal in Turquoise Necklace presents sterling silver waves washing onto shore treasures of turquoise beads and frosted seaglass. Three Infinity designs dangle from the centerpiece pendant and flanking turquoise charms. Seaglass layered with pearls add charm, depth and transparency to this dramatic and elegant work-of-art featured in the ALVA fine art gallery fall show. As is the theme running through Kariann Designs, the sea is ever-present in yet another original and one-of-a-kind creation. All treasures are cold-connected in the mosaic style that is singularly hers. Kariann utilizes the art of cold connecting hand weaving and binding without heat or glue to create an artistic statement with treasures found by the seashore. As fragile as the necklace appears, she guarantees that each necklace is sturdy enough to sustain typical wear and the occasional fall to the dressing room floor. The reverse of each piece is equally beautiful. The artist takes care to emphasize depth and light by layering sea glass, pebbles, crystals and natural gemstones such as pearls and turquoise beads. The opaque to clear nature of the glass juxtaposed with the glitter of crystals and mother nature's pearl makes a beautiful and artful statement. No two are alike. Each necklace is a work created by hand by Kariann. Born in Hawaii, Kariann Price began designing jewelry on the rocky coast of Maine. Her collection has been previously featured at galleries and boutiques throughout Maine and Connecticut. Kariann currently works from her studio in Deep River, Connecticut. "Thanks for visiting my jewelry designs! I hope my work makes you smile and want to treat yourself or someone you care about to a beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece. I often create jewelry that can be worn in sets, so don’t hesitate to browse & come up with your choice of coordinating earrings, bracelets & necklaces! Are you reminded of your trips to the sea shore, bent in earnest as you hunt for mother nature's treasures? My jewelry is inspired by the same love of the ocean and the surprises it offers along it's coastline. Sea glass treasures found along Maine and Connecticut's shores were the initial inspiration for my designs. And I should credit my knitting days for the way I love to weave wire in, out & around the treasures that become my jewelry. Best Regards, Kariann"

Technique:
My pieces combine objects found along the New England coast with metals, semi-precious gems and vintage jewelry. I select each smaller part with the vision of a balanced and beautiful whole in mind. I bend, twist, carve, and layer my materials in order to capture in their final composition a simultaneity of depth, movement, and transparency. My work is informed by the whimsical and the unconventional. Each piece, first imagined during my treasure hunts on beaches and in flea markets, is guided to maturity by my hands and tools. The final products of my handiwork bear the spirit of a lifelong endeavor to express the beauty of life. My goal as an artist is to orchestrate that which inspires me into something to behold, to be worn and, most importantly, to be appreciated.
