These exquisite earrings are part of the butterfly series and feature the Blue Morpho butterfly wing insert. 1/2 inch Oval Post Earrings; Dangle 4mm Tiny Sterling Ball. | | | About the Artist | | Barbara J Bosco | | | | | B. Bosco Designs | | Background: | For my bio, I would love to say that I have a Masters or PH.D from a wonderful Art Institute. But my lot in life, was to be married at 19 and raising 3 children by the time I was 26. However, I nurtured the artist spirit by trying every sort of art and craft possible, and never stopped reading and learning as much as I could, regarding whatever interested me at the time.
My first business entailed decorating wedding cakes, and the second was named Eggs-quisite, which although gratifying and honoring my Ukrainian heritage, was not that successful. And so it is butterflies, that have let me find my "creative niche!" My work is pure JOY! | | | | Artist Statement: | "Several summers ago, while walking near our home, I found two dead Monarch butterflies. I brought them to my studio, just to admire their beauty, and they stayed on my worktable for a long while.
One day, while working with my Sterling jewelry, I decided to cut a small oval from one of the wings and try as an insert. The results were beautiful, and I had my family and friends on a "deceased only" butterfly lookout. One day, on the internet, I typed butterfly wings, clicked search, and surprisingly found breeders, butterfly farms, and conservatories all over the world. Many were kind enough to send their "naturally expired," and I immediately became butterfly enamoured. Because most species have such a short life span, there is a continuous source of wings. The sheer beauty and variety of species truly amaze me with design and color combinations. I am thrilled to be able to share the delicate gracefulness of these "fantastic jewels of Nature;" plus their symbolism of rebirth, regeneration and renewal carries a meaningful message to most everyone." | | See more of their works: Barbara J Bosco (click to see more) | | | | Technique: | | Each butterfly wing is hand cut to fit the various Sterling and 14K Gold jewelry designs.
