Poplars Limited Edition Print is part of Kit's Holgaworld series - a portfolio of images made with a funky plastic camera. With the Holga camera the only choice you have for focusing is to set it to 1 person, 2 people, 7 people or a mountain. The camera has light leaks that need to be covered with black tape. The plastic lens is set to f8 and the shutter speed is 1/100 of a second. In other words this camera has a lot of limitations. Well, not for Kit Frost! She uses the limitations of this toy camera to her advantage and creates a world of mysterious, beautiful and evocative images. Sometimes she advances the film just a little bit to create multiple exposures. She always uses Fuji Provia 100F transparency film.The final product is a custom printed Deluxe Ilfochrome color photograph. Each print is of the highest quality and the materials are the most archival products on the market. This is not a digital print. Available in a limited edition of 75 prints. Each image is custom matted in 20 x 20 inch museum matte in bright white, and is signed and numbered by the artist.

Background:
Kit Frost has been making photography a part of her life for the past 30 years. A former New Jersey high school art teacher, Kit’s studio is in Durango, Colorado, where the southwestern land and sky have seduced her. Kit teaches workshops in the field four times a year; taking students on photography adventures to the slot canyons of Arizona, Anasazi archeological sites in Southern Utah, the fall colors of Colorado, and summer wildflowers and waterfalls tour of Colorado.Her book, “A Passion for Teaching" was published in 1999.

Artist Statement:
"In my Holgaworld portfolio I capture the feeling of walking through a landscape. Multiple in-camera images are possible because I use a toy plastic camera. I can advance the film at will, overlapping the subject. I feel that some of the softness in the final photograph gives a feeling of a dreamlike state. "

Technique:
All prints are traditionally printed Ilfochrome prints from 120 film.
