Background:
Claudia Chase has been working with fiber and beads since 1989. Upon joining the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen as a juried member in 1991, she began selling her work through the League stores and soon after branched out to sell her work in galleries throughout the country as well as creating commission works. Her artwork has been featured in several group and solo exhibits and is in private and corporate collections. In 1996, Claudia designed the Mirrix Loom, which has now become the standard for high quality portable tapestry and bead looms and is sold all over the world through stores and the Mirrix Loom web site. Claudia uses these looms to create all of her bead and fiber tapestries and some of her beaded jewelry. When not running Mirrix Looms and making her artwork, Claudia can be found at the NH House of Representatives where she serves as a first term Representative. She lives with her husband Rick, children and various four-legged friends on top of a hill in Southern New Hampshire with panoramic views of the mountains.

Artist Statement:
"I approach jewelry making from the perspective of a tapestry weaver both through my use of color and weaving techniques. I love watching the woven interaction of colors and shapes develop with the creation of each new one-of-a-kind piece. My head is full of colors and shapes just waiting to be translated into a physical piece of artwork."

Technique:
I use a variety of techniques to create my jewelry including loom weaving, off-loom weaving techniques such as peyote stitch, braiding, and bead crochet. My materials included glass beads, semi-precious stones and crystals.
