Background:
Jim Cady and Richard Glickman come from two seemingly disparate backgrounds.Jim was a motion picture producer and Richard owned retail furniture stores. They both live in Santa Fe, New Mexico and have collaberated on several projects over the years. They started Silver Zebra Design two years ago with the goal in mind of making beautiful handmade useful art. They didn't want to make anything that couldn't be made in Jim's garage. They have since outgrown the garage and their work is not sold in twenty states.

Technique:
Our one of a kind mirrors are assembled from copper, zinc, steel and stone. To start, we will cut the metals and stones into various sizes arbitrarily. We fire the copper and steel to bring out their hidden colors. These pieces are then powder coated in different colors, tints, tones and glazes to free the natural lusters and also to create vibrant colors. We build the mirror frames and affix the finished tiles and shapes onto the frames - this last step is done as the spirt calls. We do not plan ahead. Finally powder coated boarder strips are applied to the outside edges of the mirrors and then you buy them.
