What is expected of our participating artists

Here is a summary of the tasks performed by our artist participants

Serious Commitment to Retail Customers - Both artists and our staff must all strive to meet our customer's needs by going that extra step to make certain that the works of art we ship are high quality and priced right for the value received. With this main goal in mind here are the specific things you need to do as a Participating Artist.

1. Submit Product Information & Provide High Quality Product Photos - Once accepted as an Arttowngifts' artist, you will be given access to our private Artist Dashboard. This is where you will complete a product inventory form for each of your works of art. This is also where you will upload your photos. You will be expected to do the following:

Provide Enough Product Information - Our professional writers need enough information about your art work to write a good product description so that your potential customers can understand your offering. We also need to know your suggested classifications for your products so that they can be listed within the proper departments on the site to make it easy for customers to find what they desire. Submit Good Product Photos - The impact of your product photo can not be over emphasized. It is essential to both making the sale and having a satisfied customer. Take the time to learn how to shoot product photos for your type and style of art work. Our staff will also include tips and tricks in our submission materials, but it is up to you take to the initiative to implement these suggestions and to learn more on your own. 2. Measure and Weigh Your Products - Since in most cases shipping prices are set at the time a purchase is made, we require the weight and measurements of your products with and without packaging. This is so that the live feed on our site with the shipping companies can correctly price the shipping. There are some exceptions for large sculpture and made to order products but these requirements apply to most products. Once accepted as a Participating Artist, we will provide detailed instructions for measuring your products.

3. Package and Ship Products in a Timely Manner - You will receive immediate notification that you have sold a product by email. We need your commitment to get the product ready for pickup or in some cases to drop off for shipment within the time specified for each product. You will indicate this shipping time frame when you complete the Product Inventory Form mentioned above. Of course, most customers want the product as soon as possible after they place the order. We need to respect this customer desire. Artists are responsible for the cost of boxes and packaging materials. In some cases these are provided free by the shipping company. Arttowngifts.com arranges for shipping and pays the shipping company.

4. Use New Packaging and Follow Shipping Procedures - To maintain the image of Arttowngifts.com as one brand representing a group of artists, we need to look both good and consistent. This means you need to use new shipping boxes and adequate packing materials to insure that your customers receive their products intact. In the case of a gift item, you may need to wrap the package depending on your art work type. There will be compensation for the gift wrapping activities.

5. Provide Background Information for your "About the Artist" Section - Once accepted you will need to complete an online interview form to help us draft your biography article for your Studio site. If you have a biography or narrative, you can upload it instead.

6. Access to a personal computer and printer - Since we will be using a combination of email and our private Artist's Dashboard area to communicate with you, access to a computer will be necessary. You will also use a computer to print the shipping labels that we will create and transmit to you. We will provide other form templates you can print from your computer such as mailing list sign up sheets for art fairs, Certificates of Authenticity and similar items. 7. Keep Your Inventory Updated - If you sell a product through another means such as an art fair or through a gallery, you need to remove it from the site so that customers are not disappointed when they think they have made a purchase only to find out that the product is no longer available. You can also move your out of stock items to our Made to Order Center.
