These chandelier earrings made from faceted periwinkle blue stones are very bold and playful. They are totally handmade from sterling silver wire. Their curlicue quality resonates throughout the whole earring. Everything dangles from a horizontal row of very light blue beads. They go nicely with the Beaded Necklace In Periwinkle Blue pictured to the bottom right.

Medium: sterling silver and faceted glass stones Dimensions: 3.5 inches

Background:
While on stage for an art assembly in grammar school I was chosen to illustrate the idea "the cat that ate the canary". That experience launched a life-long involvement in the arts. After taking all the art courses I could in high school, I went to an art college where I was a graphic arts major and after graduating entered the book publishing field. This payed the bills but was not fulfilling my need to create. My desire to do something I had a passion for caused me to leave my book designer job. I wanted to do something creative that involved my love of artistic decoration and adornment. Initially wanting to make jewelry, but afraid of the shear number of jewelry artists, I started a craft business selling wall-dolls. But I couldn’t ignore the desire I had to make jewelry. That passion launched my jewelry making which I absolutely adore doing. I immersed myself in anything and everything I could read about jewelry making. My style keeps evolving as I learn new techniques and incorporate the different elements of jewelry design into my work.

Artist Statement:
"The attitude I take towards my jewelry making, as with everything else I do in my life, is to approach it with humor and some frivolity. I hope my jewelry evokes a whimsical quality and brings joy to anyone who wears it. "

Technique:
Most of my jewelry is made from sterling silver, semi-precious stones, silver Thai beads, and glass beads. For the majority of my necklaces and bracelets, I string together several gems with silver beads and or spacers and attach them to mostly handmade sterling silver chains. Most of the clasps and earwires are hand-made. Many pieces have an Asian influence which I particularly like.
