“My art tells a story about the breed, right down to which flowers and foliages I use. Finding reference photos of the breed at a certain stage in life, the foliage of its native (origin) country, how best to depict the dream scene that is taken from breed history and what colors should hold and best promote the puppy is all apart of my process before the paint even touches the canvas. I will occasionally run the art by breeders and people in associations and dog clubs just to make certain that I have captured the animal’s structure correctly. If any art fails, it is back to the drawing board.”
